Bio & Statement
Patricia Whalen Keck is a figurative sculptor with an interest in ancient cultures and the natural world. She holds a degree from Illinois State University in Art Education having taught young people for more than twenty years; in 1999 she received an MA in Liberal Studies from Bradley University and in 2016 she received an MA in sculpture from Bradley University. Currently she is working towards an MFA in Sculpture from Bradley University. After maintaining a studio at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria for twenty years Patricia recently moved to a new location at the The Mill located in the newly renovated Warehouse District.
Patricia’s work has been exhibited locally since 1985 including at the Sister City Art Museum, Friedrichshafen, West Germany, Galesburg Civic Art Center, Peoria Civic Center, Artemisia Gallery, Chicago, IL, Gallery 510, Decatur, IL, Peoria Art Guild, Lakeview Museum of Arts and Science, the Contemporary Art Center, Illinois Central College, Phoenix Studios, Freight House Exchange, El Paso, IL, Peoria Riverfront Museum, Peoria Public Library, Prairie Center for the Arts, First United Methodist Church, Project 1612 and Exhibit A Gallery. Latest exhibitions include “Local Inspiration", Exhibit A Gallery (2017), Peoria Heights, IL, “Emergence: The National Arts of Central Illinois”, Peoria Riverfront Museum (2017), Peoria, IL, “Staying the Course", Contemporary Art Center (2016) and “When Birds Sleep”, Project 1612 (2015), Peoria, IL. Whalen-Keck lives in Peoria, where she is currently working exclusively in bronze and will complete her MFA in sculpture in 2018.
